Images of the Week: World War II Posters

It’s been a while since our last Still Picture blog post, so to make up for it we are going to try and post one or several interesting images from our holdings at the end of each week. For this week, I’m posting images from two series, “Scuttlebum Posters” (344-SBP) and “Original Artwork for World War II Posters” (208-AOP). Both series have been digitized by our lab and will be available through the online catalog in the coming days. 344-SBP is a set of posters created between 1945 and 1951 that were used to promote preparedness and damage control aboard U.S. Navy ships. 208-AOP consists of artwork generated between 1942 and 1945 that were used as preliminary designs for World War II-era posters. Here are examples from each series:

  1. Glad to see that this series is finished- from oversized drawers to cruze camera & safely back to their drawers.
