National Archives’ Christmas Parties

Around this time of the Christmas season, offices around the National Archives are planning their Christmas parties.  It is a time for staff to take a break from their daily duties and gather together to enjoy decorations, music, and food.  This year is different however.  In the midst of a pandemic, staff have been telework and communicating virtually.  Staff will probably plan virtually Christmas gatherings from their homes for the next few weeks.

Historic Photograph File of National Archives Events and Personnel, 1935-1975, contains photographs of special events such as exhibition openings, visits of foreign political leaders and noted historians, professional gatherings, etc.  The photographs in this series originated in the Division of Photographic Reproduction. It was maintained by its successor the Still Picture Section (later Branch) until May 15, 1957, when it was physically transferred to the Exhibits and Publications Branch. That office and its successor, the Educational Programs Staff, added photographs to this series.  This series has been fully digitized and made available via our online catalog.

Among the photographs are NARA office Christmas parties mostly from the 1960s.  Enjoy this showcase of those parties in honor of the upcoming Christmas season.
